In honor of Earth Day, I’m posting chapter one of the videos “The Story of Stuff”. As a consumer, this is totally worth your while and you should be aware of what exactly you are consuming and what it means to the environment. You can watch the video (a little over 20 minutes) in its entirety and in high quality streaming here.
Very cool video! I watched the whole thing!
Thanks for the video — I just watched the whole thing too.
And I was hoping to sneak out with the wife this afternoon to hang out at Easton… hmmm….
Perfect timing! My wallet thanks you.
you can always spend your money on a movie instead…??
interesting response though. i felt the same way after seeing the video and walking into the stores at easton, like all the stuff was ‘trash-in-the-making’, and how much materials and energy were used to make this stuff that wasn’t going to last.
crazy the trash in the making — especially the “bargains”:
I heard recently that a good way to cut back on waste (and save $$ in the long run) was to spend twice as much on half the clothes.
in other words, buy things that should last as opposed to the stuff at the cheap stores that barely makes it through the wash without looking like a faded, shrunken ghost of its former self.
I’m sure there’s exceptions, but (for instance) right now I’m wearing a Banana Republic Polo that I bought years ago and still enjoy wearing. In my closet I’ve got a bunch on Old Navy Polo’s from last summer that look ragged and have all sorts of random threads popping off.
Rocki has some returns to make, so we’re still going to Easton and will grab a glass of wine somewhere to “make it a date.” HOT!!
absolutely agree with Grant’s comment there.
dude…love it when i learn things from reading your blog. Not that the rest of your life isn’t worthwhile or interesting to read about…but good on ya’ for posting this one! Thanks!!
