Something nice back home//Cabin Fever

A little behind, so here we go with 2 episodes.
Something nice back home (episode 10) – Jack flashforward
Although there was some cool stuff happening in this episode, overall it felt more like it was setting up for the future
- Christian Shepherd becoming more central to the show. Whether or not, he is Jacob or not I think he was definitely acting on behalf of the island. I wonder if Christian appearing just like Charlie did to Hurley is what plants the seed(s) for the Oceanic 6 eventually wanting to return to the island.
- So Jack and Kate do eventually get together. (zzzzzz…Sorry, but who cares? I’m so over the beach-folk…let’s get to the ‘meat’ of the show: Locke, Ben, Desmond, etc.) At any rate, even though they get together they don’t stay together long-term. It would appear that this episode was the turning point between happiness and misery being back in LA. Jack doesn’t trust Kate. Kate is keeping a secret from Jack, something she promised Sawyer she would do (I wonder if he asked her to get in contact with his daughter?)
- Claire sees Christian and follows him leaving Aaron behind. Well, now we know how they get separated. Actually I’m surprised at Emilie de Ravin’s staying power…I thought for sure she would be dead by now. But I’m thinking that at least we shall soon discover if Christian is truly dead or if he is alive on the island, as well as the truth about Jack and Claire being half-siblings.
- Was Jack’s appendicitis really an appendicitis or something planned by Juliet (a tracking device?)?
- And finally, Miles definitely confirmed that Danielle and Karl are dead. As well as he was sure acting funny around Claire. I wonder what he saw/heard
Cabin Fever (episode 11) – Locke flashback
This was a great episode, one truly for the fans. Locke is definitely and remains my favorite character.
- So Locke truly is the ‘chosen one’, ever since birth. Nice to see the return of Richard Alpert (eyeliner man). I wonder why Locke didn’t recognize him as an older man when he met him again? Interesting that he was drawn to the knife, even though it “wasn’t for him”. I wonder if Locke’s desire is for action, the hunt…but his calling is for something more. Interesting that one of the choices was a comic that said “hidden island”.
- Also the return of Abbadon in Locke’s past. Makes me wonder how many separate missions are going on the freighter. Abbadon put together the team of Naomi, Daniel, Miles, etc. But I don’t think he’s part of the same mission ‘created’ by Widmore to destroy the island.
- So, Locke was adopted…did we know that already? I wonder if his “dad” (the original Sawyer) was his adoptive father as well or his real father. Also I thought it was significant that Locke was rejecting “science” for his future, even as a highschooler — him being a man of faith.
- Locke’s mother’s name was Emily. Ben’s mother’s name was Emily. I foresee that they will become brothers before too long. If so, considering that Ben used to be the chosen one and now Locke is, it makes it all the more interesting them being possibly brothers.
- Jacob’s cabin…where was Jacob? Christian reappears and says he can speak on Jacob’s behalf. Is this just to throw us off of him not being Jacob? I’m not convinced that he isn’t Jacob, or that Jacob isn’t using his body to speak through. Claire also in a euphoric state in her father’s presence and not at all concerned about the whereabouts of Aaron was strange.
- Locke needing to ‘move’ the island. That would explain why it can’t be found. Although how are they going to accomplish that? Is the Island Atlantis? An advanced culture that everyone is trying to exploit? Could be why a slaveship on the Black Rock and a Nigerian drug plane all landed on the island if it keeps moving around?
- Also, Desmond choosing not to return to the island. Hope that pays off for him.
- The gun that was supposed to kill Michael jammed multiple times. I predict the island was majorly intervening. Also, I remembered when Jack tried to kill Locke earlier this season that his gun jammed as well.
- The dead doctor washing ashore last week but not actually dying until this week. Is there some break in the space/time continuum that doesn’t pertain to the dead. Is that why Claire is acting so funny? Is she really dead and we don’t know it yet? Is that why she is unconcerned with Aaron not being around?
This saves me having to write a post about Lost from this week.
A couple additional comments.
Where did the second bullet from the shoot out on the freighter go? Those have a habit of hitting (un)intended targets.
The gun not working on certain targets is a play on the concept of a bullet not lying in being a judge of character. The movie “Man on Fire” uses this to great effect.
Seeing Eye-liner man having not aged a bit in 50 years was a bit creepy. Likewise, Locke being manipulated into taking the walk-about.
Also, I have to wonder if Locke’s destiny was to be a man of science and he’s too stubborn to accept it.
Also thinking that the “secondary protocol” in the safe is how to use the chemical plant previously disabled by C.S. Lewis and Faraday who were organized by Abaddon.
I think that Claire is dead, dead, dead…and I thought she seemed pretty bad-a__ about everything, almost kind of evil.
Could eye-liner dude be Locke’s biological father — what was going on with him being there when the baby was born? Emily’s mother sure seemed to recognize him.
Great catch on the “Emily” connection.
Did you catch the title of the book that ageless eyeliner dude offered to Locke as a kid?
Do you know about the season finale — is this week the first hour, with the second hour being in two weeks? Or is there a 2 hour season finale on the 29th?
Such an awesome season! And Keamey needs to die!
i’m back to my original thought that Jacob is Locke from the future.
beth, there are 3 more hours this season, and they all are the finale. the first hour is this week, and then the final 2 hours are in 2 weeks.
