Remember Kristi Yamaguchi? The 1992 Olympic figure skater champion?
Well, tonight she is poised to win another trophy is this season’s Dancing With The Stars winner. “What?! You watch DWTS?!”. Yeah, hard to believe but true. When this show first started I thought the concept was so lame and didn’t think it would last. I guess I was the sucker because I was drawn in last season when Spice Girl Mel B almost took it all the way for the win. This year I’ve been hooked since the beginning.
This season Kristi has dominated the competition only dropping out of the top #1 spot twice. She’s never scored lower than an 8 (out of 10) and has rarely scored lower than a 9. You might think her skating career gave her an advantage, but the truth is it only helped her the first week. She has a competitive edge that makes her fight for the top. In fact, watching the drive and determination that these people put into learning new dances each week is really inspiring and the reason I like to watch the show. But Kristi really is amazing and I will be sorely disappointed if she doesn’t take home the trophy tonight.
