I like this album, and I write that as someone who’s not much of a Coldplay fan. There’s certainly more sonic diversity (and yes, the Arcade Fire comparisons are apt in places), and Chris Martin has greatly expanded his writing repertoire, actually writing from the standpoint of various character voices rather than writing only about Chris Martin.

i just listened to it all the way through once. really good. different for sure, but more international/world music influence as well.
definitely less produced than their last album…more organic instrumentation.
i like it. i think it will grow on me even more.
i’ve heard comparisons to arcade fire (probably in ‘reign of love’). certainly has more diversity than x&y.
